Vehicle insurance
Just like in all other countries in Europe, vehicle insurance is mandatory in Spain.
Car insurance
You have the choice between three levels of car insurance:
- Third party is the minimum requirement by law to provide cover for personal injuries and damage to someone else's property.
- Third party, fire and theft as with Third Party, but also covers if your car has a fire or get stolen.
- Fully comprehensive is the highest level of cover available and includes everything in the previous levels, as well as cover for your own car in case of an accident.
Unlike several other insurance companies in Spain, other drivers are allowed without being named in the insurance contract if they are at least 25 years old and have had a driving license for at least 2 years
Motorcycle insurance
Even for a motorcycle or scooter, you can choose different levels for your insurance coverage. It’s important to know that the driver of a motorcycle must be named in the insurance contract.
